Great Keppel Island

Great Keppel Island used to be the place to "get wrecked" but Keppel's party image is pretty much a thing of the past and now caters more for the family market.

You can do as much or as little as you want to. In the way of restaurants and cafes, there is The Admiral Keppel, which is the main restaurant, the Anchorage Char Grill, Keppel Cafe and Signals Ice-creamery and coffee shop. There are also 5 bars, the Island boutique and a hair-dressing salon.

Included in the tariff are tennis, chip and putt golf, aerobics, bushwalking, catamarans, snorkelling, fishing, archery, paddle skis, sailboarding, squash, badminton and volleyball. There are 5 swimming pools and 2 spas.

Nature tours are available with the ranger including Learn to Snorkel, coral viewing, bird walks and the homestead historical walk at an extra charge.

There is crab hunting in the late afternoon, and once a week they race them. Keppel's chief crab-hunter is Steve Thompson, who coordinates all the resort activities. He also ensures that all the crabs are released back at the beach.

There is a kids club which is free of charge and open daily for children aged 3 to 14 years.

There are 192 rooms in 4 grades of accommodation all with double bed, ceiling fan, en suite, balcony/patio, phone, TV, clock radio, fridge and mini-bar, tea/coffee making and separate laundry facilities.

The Hillside Villas are the deluxe class, with split level rooms with views over the resort and neighbouring islands. The Beachfront North accommodation are close to the resort facilities and are 2-storey units which overlook the northern end of the beach.

The Beachfront South units are similar to the above units but overlook the southern end of the beach, while the Garden units are in a garden setting and overlook the tennis courts and golf course with easy access to the resort.
