One of Perth’s top activities is a visit to Kings Park and Botanic Gardens. Just 1.5km from the CBD and adjacent to the Swan River, the 400 hectares includes 267 hectares of bushland. It offers walking paths and cycleways linking native bush to grassed parklands, fountains and picnic areas. From August to November it is ablaze with wildflowers.
Now there are even more reasons to make your way to Kings Park. The Federation Walkway takes you in amongst the treetops along a 52m arched bridge suspended high above the ground.
The walkway has opened parts of the park which were previously largely ignored. Thanks to modern architecture and engineering, hidden views are now able to be enjoyed.
Another way to see Perth is in a three-wheeled pedal/solar BoogieBug. Each of these custom-built fun vehicles can carry two passengers. The rider takes care of the pedalling. They pick up from hotels and take you on a tour of the river and city, don’t require helmets and are environmentally friendly.
The rider is assisted by a 200 watt electric motor. They are a modern twist on the Asian rickshaw, a comfortable way to see the sights of Perth.
